Reef-Safe, Microbead-Free Products - Sol de Janeiro

Fun Facts:

The ocean covers more than 70% of the surface of our planet.

Our bodies are made of 60% water.

June 8th is World Oceans Day, so what better time to talk about our bodies of water?

It goes without saying that beach culture is huge in Brazil. The sun. The sea. The natural splendor that colors our lives and delights just about anyone who visits Brazil. While Rio has its share of world-class beaches, the entire coastline of Brazil is dotted with exquisite beaches, and yes, an ocean that conjures childhood memories, and later when we’re older, a deeper appreciation for the peace and power of our oceans and the feeling of wellbeing it inspires. This feeling is universal. And so too must our effort be to protect our oceans.

As a brand, we’re proud to bring our SOL Family products that inspire pleasure, positivity and joy. A big part of that positive experience is being thoughtful about how our products are made and how they live in the world.

With that in mind, we make sure that our products are made with ingredients that live in harmony with the world, and this includes our oceans.

Our SPF products – Bum Bum SOL Oil SPF 30 and My SOL Stick SPF 50 – have become SOL fan favorites for their nourishing and body-loving benefits. This is part of our Brazilian Body Expertise (and that love for sun and sea we mentioned before). But we’re especially proud that our SPF products are reef-safe. In this small but important way we’re helping to do our part to preserve our oceans and all the living organisms within our oceans.

We continue to create products that are also made with sustainably sourced ingredients, and that are cruelty-free and microbead-free. We’re also working on reducing our use of plastics and always looking for innovative materials that are better for the environment, like compostable bio-resin and plastic made from sugarcane.

We encourage our entire SOL Family to be thoughtful about ways they can play a part in caring for our planet. Remember - we have one body and one world to live in. Let’s love and take care of both.

Happy World Oceans Day!
