How to Shower Like a Brazilian - Sol de Janeiro

by Beatriz Zimmermann July 01, 2020

Bum Bum Body Scrub, Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel, Brazilian Joia™ Shampoo & Conditioner Set

Taking a shower is pretty much a part of daily life. A necessity for sure, and if we’re lucky, a pleasure and maybe something we look forward to. End of story, right?

    Well, that depends.

Bring up the shower topic with your Brazilian friend and you may be in for some surprises – and lots of deep thoughts about the common shower.

Turns out, there’s nothing common about showers in Brazil. For starters, whoever said one shower a day is enough? In Brazil, taking several showers a day is totally the norm. Yes, a warmer climate has a lot of influence here and showering is often the quickest way to refresh, but taking a shower is never seen as a chore. Showering is fun and maybe the best way to check in with your body, show it some attention, and it’s also the perfect time to pamper your skin. That does sound pretty good.

So, how many showers are we talking, and what’s happening in these Brazilian showers?

Some might consider their morning shower their main shower, while others see their evening shower as the main event (and a great way to wash off the day and go to bed sparkly clean). This of course is a matter of personal choice, however, there’s usually a morning shower and a night shower. Whichever one you want to luxuriate in (and have more time for) is the one where you shower yourself with extra attention (literally).

Think, scrub. Let’s exfoliate and get that skin super smooth. Think, massage – with your scrub and/or body wash. Get that circulation going and so good for invigorating skin. Think, scent. Here’s your chance to be cheirosa, which in Brazil means you smell incredibly amazing. Using a deliciously scented body wash is your first step to being 100% cheirosa.

So, yes, there’s a lot going on in that Brazilian shower!

Did we mention there’s a third shower we love in Brazil? It’s called, chuveirda. Yes, this is yet another gorgeous Portuguese word. Think of the chuveirda as your “express shower” – a quick, refreshing rinse in the middle of the day, or that quick must-shower before heading out with your friends, or going on a date. Kinda like a pre-game shower.

You could say that in Brazil we have our showers down to a science – with all sorts of reasons and inspiration – hence, the multiple showers! Whether it’s about starting your day, setting a mood, doing a reset, or lavishing love on your body, we’re crazy about our showers in Brazil!

At Sol de Janeiro, this is the inspiration behind our two amazing shower experiences. Put these babies in rotation and before you know it, you’ll be feeling pretty Brazilian, too!

Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel – Our gentle, sulfate-free formula foams into a rich, creamy lather to cleanse without stripping away skin’s natural oils. Pampers and hydrates gorgeously and leaves skin deliciously scented with our iconic Cheirosa ’62 scent (Brazilian Bum Bum Cream). With notes of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla, this just smell like heaven.

Coco Cabana Moisturizing Body Cream Cleanser – Creamy-soft and super hydrating, our luxurious sulfate-free cleanser is enriched with a CocoSugar Blend of nourishing coconut oil and sugar to draw moisture to your skin. Hugs your body with soothing ingredients for comfy, clean, bouncy skin and in our mouthwatering scent of Cheirosa ’39 scent with notes of young green coconuts, tropical orchid and toasted praline.

I would absolutely LOVE if you combined your shampoo and conditioner with your Goddess Collection Set. I love all of your products. Especially the foot fetish cream and hair products. It would be nice to have a full size option as well as a travel set of all of your products. Every queen has a crown, and that means your hair should be pampered as well. It would also be nice if you could create a hair oil that repairs damages and smells delicious as well as a body oil that leaves a sun kissed glow. I know you have oils, but a self-tanning oil would be great!
