How to Make the World a Better Place for Every Body!

April 21, 2020

Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Being good global citizens is always a work in progress and as SOL citizens we’re doing our part to continually look for ways to make our products body-loving and earth-loving.

With that in mind, we give a lot of thought to our packaging, the materials we use and don’t use, and we actively look for ways to limit waste. We’re proud of the steps we’ve already taken to respect our planet and protect it.

We want to put love and Body Joy out there – without leaving anything behind that will disrupt the positivity we want to share with you every day.

Here’s what Sol de Janeiro is doing right now

We only partner with manufacturers who efficiently utilize resources through renewable energy, recycling, hazmat waste programs, and water filtration.

As part of our dedicated commitment to sustainable packaging, we encourage all our suppliers to increase responsible fiber sourcing for our packaging needs.

Our plastic and paper packaging is currently reusable and recyclable in many communities in North America.

And here are our SOL Goals for 2020 and beyond

By the end of 2021, all our packaging will include recycling instructions with standardized recycling symbols in North America.

We will dramatically reduce the amount of plastic we use in our packaging by the end of 2021.

Our new initiative to update packaging will reduce plastic weight by 25%.

We’re embracing technologies that will allow us to substitute petroleum-derived raw materials (plastics) with renewable materials like compostable bio-resin sugar-cane derived plastics.

80% Of our paper-based packaging material will come from certified ethically sourced (FSC) virgin fiber or will consist of least 35% post-consumer recycled content by the end of 2021.

We’ll be converting all our paper-based product packaging to use non-chlorine whitened paper and non-solvent based inks by the end of 2023.

Sol de Janeiro has committed to make all of our plastic and non-plastic packaging reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025.

We’re passionate about bringing you products and experiences that are made with thought, with care, and with respect for our world and our SOL Family. Let’s embrace the sunshine and work together to create a SOL-bright future for every body.
