What Is Perfume Mist?

What Is Perfume Mist?

What you probably already know: Our perfume mist—including the iconic Cheirosa 62™—smell completely irresistible. But you might not know what, exactly, a perfume mist is. (And yes, it’s different from your standard perfume!)

Ahead, we’re breaking down everything to know about perfume mist (which is sometimes also called body mist or fragrance mist), plus what makes ours so special.

What Is Body Mist?

Body mist or perfume mist are made with a lower concentration of fragrance oils than traditional eau de parfum or eau de toilette. Their lighter quality makes them great for spritzing all over, and for refreshing your scent throughout the day.

Our long-lasting perfume mist will smell amazing even hours later. But, if you want to re-up your scent, you can spritz them on again without it becoming overpowering. This makes them ideal for fragrance layering (but more on that later).

How Do You Use Fragrance Mist?

Here’s how to use fragrance mist, also known as perfume mist: We recommend applying perfume mist directly to your skin for the longest-lasting scent. Try spritzing it on right after a shower or bath. The warmth of your skin will help the fragrance absorb and last even longer.

If you love a certain scent  in our collection, you can enhance it by layering with its complementary body wash and body cream. This way, you’ll get all the body care benefits, plus an extra fragrance boost.

You may want to refresh your scent throughout the day. Because perfume mist is lighter, feel free to spritz it on multiple times. Or, if you have another Sol de Janeiro perfume mist you want to apply later on, you can layer them for a totally new scent experience.

Benefits of Perfume Mist

Now that you know the basics and how to apply body mist aka perfume mist, here are a few reasons to consider adding one to your routine.

They have a light, refreshing scent

Perfume mist is light enough to wear every day as your signature scent, especially because it’s easy to reapply when needed. You can also consider it a great alternative to heavier perfumes if you prefer a fragrance that isn’t quite as intense.

They can be worn year-round

Thanks to their lightweight formulation, perfume mist provides an ideal refresh in warm weather and won’t feel heavy on your skin. At the same time, our perfume mist is also great for colder weather. Consider our warm and cozy Cheirosa 71, which features comforting notes of caramelized vanilla, toasted macadamia nut,  and rich tonka bean.

They spray on evenly

Unlike stronger perfumes, which get applied to specific areas, perfume mist can be spritzed on from head to toe, anytime and anywhere. No missed spots! Instead, the scent is evenly distributed over your hair and body.

They’re versatile

Of course, the most common place to use perfume mist is on your body. But did you know you can also spritz them on your hair, clothing, and even bedding? For fabrics, be sure to spray from a distance to avoid stains.

They’re great for layering

You can create a signature scent all your own when you layer two—or more!—perfume mist together. For instance, try pairing warm floral Cheirosa 40 and fruity floral Cheirosa 68. They both feature notes of vanilla and musk, and their similar scent families combine for a complex floral fragrance.

FAQs

Can perfume mist be layered with perfume for a longer-lasting effect?

You do you! If you love our bold, intense SOL Cheirosa 62™ eau de parfum, try pairing it with the perfume mist of your choosing for a unique scent experience that will have everyone wondering what you’re wearing.

When do you apply perfume mist?

The best time is right after you shower, when your skin is warm and still a bit damp—this way it will hold the scent better. Just be sure not to rub it off with your towel!

That being said, we believe anytime is a good time to use perfume mist. They’re a great way to freshen up after the gym, work, or a long day.

Where should you apply perfume mist?

You can apply them head to toe, but if you want a more targeted application, focus on the pulse points. These warmer areas of the body help diffuse and amplify the scent. Pulse points include the insides of the wrists, neck (front and back), inside of elbows, and behind the knees.

And again, you can also apply your perfume mist to your hair, and even your clothes!

Do you need to rub in your fragrance mist after spraying?

Let’s bust this myth right now. No, you don’t! In fact, you shouldn’t. The rubbing action actually breaks down scent molecules and diminishes the quality of the notes—so it won’t last as long. Instead, lightly dab the skin, rather than rubbing.
